Visual Legacy Storytelling Experience
Clinicians at Secure keep your stories under lock and key. Privacy and security are our specialty. But what do you do if you want to tell your story? Not everyone is equipped to write a book. Some of us need to share our story in order for it to help others and create meaning out of our darkest moments. In fact, that is often one of the markers of successful trauma recovery and resilience. We can facilitate that for you as a part of and after your healing! Record your stories and memories with a professional film producer to document your voice, facial expressions and unique presence for the future. Oral story telling is thousands of years old. It's the original form of wisdom-passing. Older generations sit around the campfire and share the stories of their grandparents, children gather to learn the mythology and origin stories of their families. Leave something behind for your friends and family that captures your vocal tone, your smile, your tears, your wishes, your wrinkles and grays, your youth as a young parent for your teens to see someday. Put your children in front of the camera too!
"I've got plenty of time to write it down."
"I want them to know what I remember."
"When my dad died, I wished for his voice."
"I don't know where I'd begin."
"There's so much to tell..."
Josh Knight, two-time Emmy-winning producer, is uniquely talented to start the right conversation and bring out your story on camera with incredible sound and lighting.

With or without Dignity Therapy... in partnership with Human Story Studio.
Have you ever wished that your parents or grandparents had written down their stories, things about your family's history, small details only a primary source can remember? Want to record a special loved one's voice and face, so you can see the things that make them THEM? Want to leave a piece of yourself for those who will remember you? Vanessa and Josh Knight are married business collaborators. Work with both Vanessa (counselor) and/or Josh Knight (producer) to create a compilation of video interviews of your stories, wishes, things you want to say to others, leave pieces of your memories to live on with others. You can work with Vanessa Knight (owner and counselor at Secure Counseling Clinic) to prepare for the video sessions if you need help considering what your goals are and how to meet them, or you can simply schedule the video sessions with Josh Knight (producer) and get to work! Your video media work can be independent or inclusive of therapy, whichever you need.
To get more information and begin the process of creating videos for your self-expression, loved ones, and memories, email our producer. We will discuss your unique circumstances, then create a customized plan for telling your stories with a schedule for shooting your video content. Each client is different, and we honor your needs in the ways that feel meaningful to you.

How much does it cost?
Production costs vary. All fees will be proposed, consented and settled prior to your shoot/session. Cost can range from $500 to several thousand for many story sessions, and cost is adjustable when you decide to calibrate how much time and money you want to invest in your storytelling, as well as how much editing your need after recording. Costs include basic editing phase of production, which is outlined by Human Story Studio when planning your legacy media.

Where are recording sessions located?
104 West 9th Street, Suite 400A, KCMO, 64105 (Recording Studio is set up in the offices of Secure Counseling Clinic)

When can I record?
Anytime you and our video producer are mutually available, but we strongly recommend weekends (Sat/Sun), so that you don't have to take time off work and you can relax and tell your stories.

Are there consent forms? Is this HIPPA protected?
Yes -- there are consent forms that detail all of the parameters of engagement, as well as the boundaries of privacy with the video producer. Our producer is NOT a clinician - he's a talented creative! Videos are not HIPPA-protected. If you work with one of our dignity therapy counselor (Vanessa Knight) you will receive HIPPA-protected clinical care to prepare for the video shoot(s). Any and all video work done for clients is voluntary, and privacy in storytelling is considered at each step of the way. Content can be modified after you record stories if you change your mind. Extensive editing is billed hourly.

Who can attend?
We strongly recommend that you attend alone, so that you can concentrate on your stories and the conversation with the producer. If you desire a special experience with a loved one on camera, discuss that with Josh Knight and he will work that into the production plan!
